We could not have asked for a better tour or guide. Nathan was fantastic. Not only did he fill in some additional details about our relative’s loss of life he also adapted the day’s itinerary to visit the battle and commemoration sites, the latter only being in place for a week or so. And he did the same for a couple from New Zealand on our tour. He imparted his considerable knowledge and passion for the local history in an engaging and empathetic way. Nothing was too much trouble. Whilst my initial thought on booking was that it seemed a little expensive, the experience was well worth what we spent and more. I would highly recommend. Many thanks for making my father’s weekend, and for helping to fulfil a long-held desire to pay respect to those who fought in the First World War.

Those who fell in the Great War are brought to life once again by Nathan
an artist who paints a picture of their life and death from the bayonet, bullet, and machine gun.
We listened and learned and will not forget.

We had a great day being shown round some of the key battlegrounds and cemeteries around Ypres. Nathan has a very detailed knowledge of the various battles that took place in Flanders and makes that whole tragic period of European history come alive in a very vivid way. I had been on a Battlefield Tour twice before but never to the Passchendale Museum which is great with its dug out experience and reconstructed trenches, as is the revamped Flanders Museum in Ypres. Highly recommended!

We did the day tour and the last post tour. It was by far the best guided tour I have ever bee on. Nathan’s knowledge of the area and the history of World War I is constantly helpful. The tour itself shows you a wide variety of different parts of World War I and the experiences of the soldiers. I had studied history at university and WWI was covered extensively and I felt like I learned a huge amount during this tour. The museums are also phenomenal and very sobering at the same time. I would suggest anyone with the time to take the tour.

Nathan had a huge amount to share with us- in historical background, how events had unfolded and the resultant cemeteries/ memorials/ museums and we also got to see how 100 years later, the ground is still releasing artefacts from the war. Staying for the Last Post ceremony- and spending extra time in Ieper- made our day complete- we were both very glad we did both parts of the tour/s.
