Nathan was an excellent guide, with a far-reaching knowledge of both the local battlefields, and the wider historical context of the First World War.

Having researched my Great-Grandfather’s service in the Gloucestershire Regiment (which, unlike so many others, he survived), it was a unique and sobering experience to tread the earth he was stationed on in 1917.

It was a very busy day, with many miles travelled, and much information to digest, and being in a small tour group made it all the better. At one point we stopped off and entered a garage where we were able to see and safely handle some of the ’iron harvest’ which the ground still gives up nearly a century later - shells, Mills bombs, twisted rifles, and shrapnel.

If you know you will be in Bruges with a day to spare, or are trying to decide which battlefield tourguide to use, I wholeheartedly recommend Nathan. I have read many books upon the First World War, from overarching histories to individual accounts, but nothing compares to walking the land, visiting the cemeteries and memorials, and seeing how the landscape is still scarred by the ravages of war.

A memorable visit to Flanders. Nathan led us through the three major battles of the Ypres Salient and his choice of sites meant you could imagine the scene as it was in 1915-17. Well worth the effort to do this day tour.

How could you go to Brugge and not go on this tour? I felt drawn not only to see and understand more about the events of WW1, but to pay my respects to the men who fought for our freedom and this tour allowed me to do all of this. It was very personal as we were transported by a people carrier driven by Nathan, allowing us to have interaction with him.
Nathan was courteous and amenable; he was an Oracle of knowledge in all matters, not just WW1 events.
I know there were a few negative reviews last year, but I just couldnít relate to them on our trip.
Nathan provided all that his web site indicated and more.
I would have no hesitation in recommending him and the tour and thatís a lot from someone who is not easily pleased!
Thank you for a great day Nathan.

The best bit of our stay in Bruges was our trip to Flanders WW1 battlefields. Collected from our hotel by Nathan our guide who knew his subject very well. A thoroughly enjoyable day out and well worth the price. Will be telling friends and family all about it.

6 of us went on the tour on Thursday 20th February and it was an amazing experience. Nathan is extremely knowledgeable and engaging. There is so much to pack in to the day and i dont think any other tour would give such an experience as we recieved on this one.The amount we saw and did on the tour made it great value for money. We were also able to find our relative’s name on the memorial Wall at Tyne Cot which made it personal to our family. Although we had terrible weather, we felt that it added to the trip as the mud gave a thing glimpse into the weather conditions that the troops had to put up with. The tour is a thoughts provoking and moving and made even better by the passionate and knowledgeable Nathan. I will be recommending it to all of my friends.
