A brilliant day spent with Nathan, who is so knowledgeable. He starts by giving an historical synopsis leading up to WW1. Throughout the tour, he gives all the relevant information and it gives you insight into the terrible conditions those poor, mostly young souls had to endure. He helped me find information about a relative of mine, which was most appreciated. I strongly recommend Nathan’s small group tours, there were six in our party. We could all be involved and ask questions, which of course Nathan’s in depth knowledge covered.

We had a very interesting day with Nathan exploring the WW1 battlefield, cemeteries and museums around Ypres. Nathan is so knowledgeable and taught us so much about the causes and events of the First World War. It was a moving experience, particularly the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate which we tagged on to our day. I highly recommend this tour as it is very personal as Nathan ensured that he visited the cemeteries and memorials that were important to the 8 people in our group- Welsh, American, Canadian and British.

Another fantastic tour from Nathan. He explained the events leading up to the outbreak of WW1 and then led us step by step through the battles in the Ypres Salient. By the end of the tour we had a much greater understanding of the horrors endured by both sides. Thank you Nathan.

Excellent in every way!
Booked the tour from UK on line. We chose Nathan’s company, having read so many very good reviews.
He picked us up from our hotel, spot on time and were immediately ‘smitten’ by his exuberance, enthusiasm and knowledge, as he described the changes and political developments across Europe leading to the out break of WW1. By the time we reached the Ypres salient we were truly prepared for the exploration of the many sites.
Every stop developed our understanding of the events and tragedies played out across the landscape. Being shown detail, such as the difference between German and Allied forces’ barbed wire, and his explanations of landscapes showing shell holes, bunkers and trench fragments, brought everything we viewed to life.
Nathan crammed so much into the day for us, yet he gave us space for reflection at cemeteries and museums. The whole day was excellent ……and we enjoyed his company at lunch too.
Highly recommended
Thank you Nathan

Thank you, Nathan, for a brilliant tour (early Feb). You communicated your vast knowledge with passion. We learned such a lot and saw so many things in one day that we need to do it again. If only our history teachers had been like you!
