What a brilliant, evocative and moving experience! We went on the evening tour with Nathan. His commentary brought the battlefield to life in a way that wouldn’t have happened if we had taken the trip independently. I’d recommend the evening trip as it is very quiet - we were the only people in the cemetery. The last post ceremony is a moving, unforgettable experience. This was definitely the highlight of our trip to Belgium. I wish now that we had time to do the full day tour!

We did the full day tour on 24 March 2013 in rather inclememt weather conditions. Carl was our tour guide and we had an excellent day. Carl’s commentary was not just very informative, but his passion for recalling historical events was superb. We both learnt so much more than what you could ever glean from history books and Carl’s commentary brought the historical chain of events of WW1 into stark focus as well as linking events of the past to being the foundation for shaping today’s political world. We would thoroughly recommend this tour.

We took the tour on 19 March and we found it to be an informative and unforgettable experience. Nathan’s knowledge of the Flanders Fields campaign is incredible and is delivered in a thoroughly engaging manner. Although the weather started grey and cold, perhaps reflective of the events that took place there almost a century ago, the day ended in warm sunshine.

The tour is conducted at a comfortable pace although taking in many stop-offs and Nathan is more than happy to accommodate specific requests. Together with a delicious lunch this is a tour more than worth the very reasonable charge.

Thank you Nathan and may many more people experience your hospitable nature and incredible knowledge.

A cold, snowy, wintery day only added to the picture Nathan presented of a conflict played out in appalling conditions. The tour however was the exact opposite. Lively, comfortable, well presented and with everything included in the price. I thoroughly recommend this tour to anyone considering it.

We took Nathan’s tour on 19 March 2013, and it was an excellent day. we were just a small group, and Nathan was very cooperative in visiting 3 memorials including members of my family that I particularly wanted to visit.

Throughout the trip, Nathan was a mine of information, and he has excellent resources in his vehicle to help answer any questions he can’t answer off the top of his head - and there weren’t many. The standard parts of his tour take you to a well-judged mix of sites, museums, and memorials, and I think it would be impossible to cover so much ground under one’s own steam or in a bigger group tour. The amount of time at various places is well judged too - we didn’t feel hurried.

And Nathan provides excellent service too: quick response to email booking enquiry, spot on time to pick us up from our B&B, providing a good lunch, very clear about when we needed to meet where while letting us get on with what we wanted to do, and getting us back at the expected time too, and a gift WW1 souvenir too.

Thanks Nathan!
