Being Australian in Flanders Fields with a guide such as Nathan showed us the real sites & shared the history behind Australia’s involvement in the Great War, something we’ve only read in books - thus it was a real privilege to see it first hand under the guidance of a professional like Nathan.

It is a long day (8:45am pick up - 5:00pm drop off) though Nathan is sharp with information & stories all day to keep you engaged, thinking about the sheer enormity & cost of the conflict. We had plenty of questions too, all of which were answered by a man who really knows his history.

The small tour size (8) was a real pleasure, lunch was included & the black & red poppy van had us from site to site in comfort. I liked the approach of taking us to a site, sharing information with the group, taking questions & then letting us explore the site ourselves - in places  like Tyne Cot and the Flanders Museum in Ypres this worked brilliantly.

Whether you know your WW1 history or are keen to begin learning what happened in this tiny corner of western Europe, Nathan is the man to go with. He’ll even open the door for you (every time we got out of the van - top notch chivalry right there!) & leave you with a real battlefield souvenir from the Fields. Highly recommended for everyone when they’re in Belgium!

Nathan’s tour is highly recommended! My wife and I toured the Ypres battlefield on July 15, and we had an outstanding day that was the highlight of our visit to Bruges. We’ve visited many battlefields in the US, the UK, and Normandy, and were very glad that our first visit to a WWI battlefield was through a guided tour with Nathan. The scale of these battlefields makes a casual visit difficult, but Nathan’s deep knowledge of the history, the battles, the terrain, and the region make for a highly informative and enjoyable day. The tour van was clean and comfortable, the sites visited were well thought-out, and the lunch was excellent. Again, HIGHLY recommended.
