We took this Flanders Fields Battlefield Day Tour run by Nathan in late September, booked on-line in June. Collected exactly on time from our hotel to join the small group (8, including 2 New Zealanders) in Nathan’s immaculate minibus before starting on this fascinating and excellent tour. We were given an overview by Nathan of world events leading up to WW1 on the way to the Flanders Fields which was very informative and useful. Started at the German cemetery at Langemark, of particular historical interest, and thence on to Passchendaele and Tyne Cot Cemetery with its small museum, both very moving. The tour visited the Passchendaele Museum at Zonnebeke
which was fascinating, with a walk-through dug out, and passed many battle sites with craters and bunkers, some off the main roads, which Nathan described very well, illustrated with contemporary photographs and stopping to show the lie of the land at various points which made the battlefields much more understandable. Also stopping to view a number of memorials, including Canadian and New Zealand memorials and to look at war artifacts including shells (some still live) and remains of guns, barbed wire etc. with Nathan
providing some very interesting information of their use and origins. On to Ieper (Ypres) where we had an excellent lunch with beer (all included in the tour price) in a pleasant
restaurant and then to the rebuilt Cloth Halls and the In Flanders Fields Museum, in which one could have spent a whole day. Time to walk around Ieper and visit the Menin Gate in one’s own time (as at all the museums and large cemeteries we visited). Visits to other sites including a bunker complex, huge craters and the trench complex at Bayernwald. Finally heading back to Brugge and delivery at our hotel, with Nathan giving us a small WW1 souvenir at the end of the tour. Nathan’s knowledge and enthusiasm were outstanding and one can only describe this day as outstanding and excellent. Very highly recommended!

Nathan went out of his way to make my day a truly memorable one , I have a well studied background regarding the Great War , but Nathan
has a great grasp of all of the conflict , far beyond mine . He made finding my ancestor an experience that I will always remember . The best value for money trip you can ever hope to experience .

Thanks Nathan for a great, informative and moving day out. A lot of information to absorb, for me the most astonishing thing was the view of the battle fields from the high ground- all visible in a relatively small area. ’30 lives for every square meter’

Your tour was one of the highlights of our four-week trip! Nathan’s knowledge and enthusiasm are truly exceptional. The small group size made the tour more personal, and he was even able to take one of our tour members to a specific cemetary to find a relative buried there.
