I did the battle field tour on 06 Dec 2011 and had Nathan as our tour guide. He was very professional, knowledgeable and informative of all things pertaining to World War One. Indeed, his running commentary between each site made me feel as if I was reliving the experiences of the soldiers on the battlefied. I certainly returned with a better understanding of the extreme hardships those service men endured as we were given the opportunity to experience the trenches and view other artefacts, including the magic lantern photos in the museum at Hill 62 Station. We enjoyed a tasty lunch in the beautiful city of Ypres and I found the Menin Gate, and indeed all the beautifully tended war cemetries very emotive and thought provoking.

I went on this tour on 6 November 2011 and had a very enjoyable day. Nathan is professional and both his passion and knowledge of WW1 is astounding. I attended this tour with the sole purpose of finding the gravestone of my relative who was killed in October 1917 but I came away with so much more including visiting close to the place where he would have been killed. We visited numerous cemeteries, trenches, bunkers and monuments to the fallen from different countries. Lunch in the beautiful town of Ypres was excellent. Thanks to Nathan I now have a better understanding of the conditions that these poor men lived through during the war and I have no hesitation in recommending this tour.

We booked late one evening to go on this tour and Nathan turned up punctually the next morning. As soon as we set off he began describing vividly the history of Flanders Fields. Nathan was descriptive and informative as he brought the history of the battles to life as we approached the Fields. We visited a large number of trenches, memorials and battle grounds as well as a museum. Nathan also took us to Ypres where we had an excellent lunch at a local restaurant. In just one day Nathan managed to give us a true reflection of the lengthy tragedy of Flanders Fields. We were thoroughly impressed with how much we managed to visit together with the professionalism, sensitivity and knowledge that Nathan provided. We believe that the experience of this trip would be an invaluable experience to all of society and should be considered as a compulsory field trip visit for school children of today. Highly recommended.

This tour is fantastic! Proved to be a highlight of my trip to Bruges. Nathan’s knowledge on the topic is impressive. Visiting multiple battle sights and graveyards along with Nathan’s commentary made me understand and view WW1 in a way I never had before. I highly recommend this tour.
