Thank you, Nathan, for a brilliant tour (early Feb). You communicated your vast knowledge with passion. We learned such a lot and saw so many things in one day that we need to do it again. If only our history teachers had been like you!

While visiting Bruges we decided to book. Nathan’s tour to learn about WW1. Nathan is so informative and is able to answer all questions about the war and events leading up to it.
A great day of learning and seeing where the fighting took place.
I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone interested in finding out more about WW1.

Me and 3 mates on a boy’s weekend booked our tour with Nathan, both the day tour and evening tour in Ypres.

Nathan’s knowledge was excellent, telling the history of the region from the 1800’s through to world war 1 to give a full sense of what happened.

The sites were well worth seeing, coupled with Nathan’s knowledge it made for a great day out.

Nathan helped me and a friend to track down 2 family members at Tyne Cot, as well as making unplanned stops for 2 South African people on the tour to see memorials to Commonwealth soldiers. This all made the tour very personal.

Would highly recommend this trip to anyone interested in history, and would suggest doing both the day and evening tour, to see the Last Post at the end of the day was a real reflection of what happened during those terrible years.

I took the tour on 09/11/16 with three Canadians and three other English people. Nathan is a hugely informative, very friendly tour guide. His small tour groups allow for an extremely personal experience (he’ll learn your name and ask all about you) and the his level of knowledge about not only the First World War, but the decades that led to it, are remarkably impressive and educational. I thought I know a lot about the war but he told us so much I wasn’t aware of.

The tour doesn’t feel at all rushed. You’ll be given plenty of time to explore the cemeteries, memorials and museums Nathan takes you to and your own pace. There isn’t anything I feel I missed out on.

I would recommend Nathan’s day-long tour (I was picked me up outside my hotel at 08:45 and I was back by 18:00) to anyone planning on visiting Bruges who’s interested in learning all about the Flanders Fields and The Great War.

Our tour on Saturday 15/10 was perfect. The depth of knowledge Nathan was able to incorporate into our day was simply impressive. As an Australian group the tour felt bespoke to our specific interests, Nathan constantly demonstrated deep subject matter expertise, context and had a flow that linked in a cohesive fashion the specific actions of the AIF & ANZACS within the broader back drop of other nations and dynamics of the conflict. We covered an impressive amount battlefields, trenches, museums, cemeteries, monuments without rushing and maintaining respect. I’m still absorbing it all, and my interest in history -dormant for many years has been woken.
Nathan is an excellent guide- I feel privileged having taken this tour, and have no hesitation in recommending visit bruges /battlefield day tours to anyone with even a remote interest in history.
Cheers!
